“Gricel – A Tango Story” is an innovative musical theater production that tells the true, iconic love story of tango poet José María Contursi, immersing the audience in the bittersweet world of unfulfilled longing, inherent in the culture of Argentine Tango.
This performance is a preview of a forthcoming three-act work, created by Astria Apel, featuring original arrangements and compositions by Sonder Tango (Melody Quinteros and Nicolás Maceratesi), with choreography by Astria Apel and Mariano Galeano.
Argentine Tango and Modern Dance join forces to convey this turbulent story, based on many of the most famous tango lyrics written by José María Contursi.
An international cast of world-class tango dancers, musicians, and singers will come together in Brussels for this performance, joined by the Brussels Tango Performance Group.
The performance will be preceded by a Milonga in the theater’s foyer at 6:00 PM, inviting the audience to dance themselves or just enjoy a drink at the bar. Entrance for Milonga included in all ticket categories.

Gricel-Tango Argentino e.V. is proud to present the internationally renowned Sonder Tango Orchestra and the dancers Mariano Galeano & Astria at the beautiful historic venue “Tattersall” in Wiesbaden, a 390 sqm dancefloor with a stage.
Let yourself be taken straight to Argentina through music and dance and the most famous Argentinian Snacks: Empanadas
After the Concert and show you can dance Tango yourself, to traditional music by DJ Mariano Galeano and some further live music by Sonder Tango!
You will also get to know more about our current project in development, the musical theater production “Gricel-A Tango Story” and will have the chance to contribute to bringing this project to life!
About SONDER TANGO:
Sonder Tango is an internationally renowned Tango Orchestra, based in Italy. You will encounter this young and dynamic ensemble at some of the most important Tango Festivals and Venues throughout Europe and worldwide. It is directed by the argentine bandoneon-player Nicolas Maceratesi and co-directed by the argentine Violinist Melody Quinteros. Their fresh and dynamic interpretation of classical Tangos is great to listen and as well fantastic to dance to!
About Mariano Galeano & Astria Apel:
Mariano Galeano and Astria are internationally known Tango Argentino dancers, choreographers and teachers.
Mariano Galeano, from Buenos Aires, has been dancing tango from a young age. He studied dance and theater at the University of IUNA, danced in renowned companies including Otango, was a judge in the world championships of Tango and toured with his own show: Tangauchos.
Astria received her Bachelor of Dance from Codarts, Rotterdam Dansacademy, then continued her career in New York with major tango and modern dance companies such as Graham 2 and Tango Argentina and became US Champion in the Argentine Tango Salon in 2019.
Mariano and Astria have recently performed in the Tango Opera “Maria De Buenos Aires” at the Pfalztheater Kaiserslautern and are currently touring with the show “We Call It Tango”. They are based in Brussels and Wiesbaden and mainly teach throughout Germany and Belgium.
